16 Months

This last month has brought some fun and not so fun changes.  One of the big changes it has brought is the addition of 4 teeth within 1 1/2 weeks!  And I am talking about her molars---BIG teeth!  This resulted in several not so fun days and sleepless nights.  Although I must say, Peyton really has been a trooper and we didn't actually even spot her new teeth until they had already cut through her gums.  She cut the top two molars on Thursday, Feb. 9 making tooth #9 and #10 and then the bottom two molars on Saturday, Feb. 18, putting us at a whopping #11 and #12.  It's hard to believe that she  already has #12 teeth!

One of my favorite things about P right now is her sweet and curious personality.  She is super loving and is big on blowing kisses these days.  She even blows kisses in response to being told "I love you."  It really is so sweet!  She is very curious about EVERYTHING and it amazes me that things that she picks up on by watching me.  She has started trying to mimic things that I do like pretending to put lotion on her face and body, washing herself in the bathtub, eating with a fork, putting on makeup, and my absolute favorite...talking on the phone.  She is obsessed with talking on the phone and I use the term phone loosely.  She definitely has her fair share of talking on the real phone and her pretend phones, and yes that was plural!!, but she also will "talk on the phone" with the most random things like a calculator, her food, basically anything she can get her hands onto...She has even started saying "Ello" (Hello) when she hears the phone ring.

I've just recently noticed that she can now transfer objects from one hand to another.  She is also spending more time playing independently than she used to, which also means getting into more things than she should!  She loves getting in and out of her cozy coup car that GP and Granddad gave her for her 1st birthday.  She also loves emptying out mommy and daddy's desk drawers and making a mess!

P is going through a phase right now where she really wants to be held a lot of the time and she wants my undivided attention.  Don't get me wrong I do love this, but it is hard sometimes because she always seems to want to be held when I am in the middle of doing something (getting her meal ready, washing dishes, etc.).  Along with her desire to be held has also come a new liking to patting.  I've noticed that when I am holding P that she likes to pat me on my back.  She will also pat me on my hand when she sits in my lap and I rock her.  It's amazing how little things like that just melt my heart!

This little girl is extremely attached to her "nona" aka paci and keeps it very close at all times.  She also loves her baby and enjoys handing her to me with her bottle so that I can feed her :)  Peyton has gotten better at napping, usually taking a late morning nap for 1-1.5 hours.  She rarely has any interest in an afternoon nap, even if she misses her morning nap.  She has also gradually started staying up later, as we are finding it harder and harder to get her to settle down at night.  Our one time 6:30-7:00 bedtime has become more like 7:30 or 8.  Although I can't really complain because on most mornings she does sleep until after 7.  I'm not sure what's to come in the next month but right now I am loving this stage that we are in!

**The below pictures are of Peyton reading a little children's prayer book that was given to me when I received my First Communion.  It has been on the little table next to her chair since she was born and in the last month she has become very interested in looking at it.  While I was trying to take her 16 month picture for this post she reached over and grabbed it off of the table and started "reading" it.   How precious are these pictures!?!?!
This one cracks me up...she is holding a little prayer card that was in the book and is "talking" on the phone!
