Last Sunday we packed up the car with way more than we really needed, and headed out of town for a week at the beach. Our trip started off with a few bumps...between Sunday and Monday night we changed condos 3 times! That means lots of packing up and loading/unloading the car which is not fun in and of itself but especially not fun with a busy 9 month old. Although I must say that Peyton was a real trooper with all of the moving around we did. Thank goodness we have such a flexible little baby. Finally by Monday night at 7 we were getting settled into the condo where we would spend the rest of our vacation.

We've been to the beach two other times with Peyton but each of those times we were with our parents (the first time with Matt's and the second time with mine). So this was our first official vacation as a family of 3! It was great getting spend time with my two favorite people, however it was anything but relaxing. We spent most of our mornings and afternoons floating around in the swimming pool which wore Peyton out. She usually was ready for a nap after 45 minutes - 1 hour of playing in the pool. We did go to the beach a couple of times and wouldn't you know that my camera lens clouded up and most of the pictures that I took didn't come out clear. At first Peyton didn't seem to know what to think of the sand, but before long she was crawling around in it and at one point she picked up a handful of it and put it in her mouth and swallowed it YUCK! Should I be worried that she was completely unbothered by it??

I was surprised at how cold the ocean was considering the temperature was in the 90's every day we were down there. Peyton wasn't a huge fan of the ocean, but she did let us carry her out into it and put her feet in the water.
Our condo was definitely not baby-proof which resulted in a lot of falls, bumps, and worrying for me. Peyton decided that she was going to start pulling up to standing while we were there and she found just the perfect place for it...the bathtub. Matt and I tried our best to make sure that the bathroom door was closed at ALL times but the second we turned our backs Peyton would beeline it to the bathroom. The below pictures are a few I took of her before bath time, which was one of Peyton's favorite activities on our trip. She's been taking baths in her infant tub but we had a nice big jacuzzi so we let her take baths in there and she LOVED it.

Isn't that the cutest little tushy you have ever seen! |
When we weren't outside at the pool or ocean, we were inside playing toys. The condo had a wall in the dining room that was covered in a mirror and this was one of P's favorite places to go (in addition to the bathroom). She would sit in front of the mirror and look at herself and just smile and laugh. She also has a little toy that has a mirror on it and she had the best time sitting on the floor and looking down into the mirror. She also thought it was funny to try to get my camera when I pulled it out to take her picture.

How can you resist this face?
I ate way too much food while we were down there while Matt on the other hand stayed true to his Paleo diet. We had nice weather and a lot of good family time, but by the end of the week we were ready to head back to the comforts of our home.
